Will Puy du Fou UK have rollercoasters?
Puy du Fou is not being proposed as a conventional rollercoaster-led theme park. The official UK consultation material explicitly explains that Puy du Fou parks have no rollercoasters and instead focus on large-scale historical shows and immersive environments.
So will there be no rides at all?
That requires a little more care. People often use the word ‘rides’ broadly. Puy du Fou’s core offer is theatrical rather than a conventional line-up of rollercoasters, flat rides and dark rides. The current UK proposal is framed around shows, villages, hotels and supporting experiences.
Theme Park Trip should therefore avoid promising that the UK resort will contain a traditional ride collection unless authoritative future material says so.
Why is it still called a theme park?
In everyday travel language, Puy du Fou is often described as a theme park because it is a ticketed destination built around themed entertainment and immersive environments. But its operating model is significantly different from parks where mechanical rides are the main attraction.
What will visitors actually do?
- Watch large-scale live historical shows.
- Move through period-themed villages and landscaped environments.
- Use restaurants, retail and visitor facilities.
- Potentially interact with craftspeople and immersive elements, based on the wider Puy du Fou model.
- Stay in themed onsite hotels.
Could the UK plans change?
Yes. The scheme remains in outline planning and final detailed design has not been approved. If later UK documents identify specific ride-like experiences, this page should be updated with the precise evidence and terminology.
The simplest answer
If you are expecting a UK equivalent of a rollercoaster-heavy theme park, Puy du Fou is designed to be something different. Its defining attraction is live historical spectacle, not rollercoasters.
