Where Is Universal UK? Bedford Location & Site Guide

Universal United Kingdom Resort is being developed in Bedford Borough, Bedfordshire, on the former brickworks site and adjoining land at Kempston Hardwick, south of Bedford.

Where exactly is Universal UK?

The official planning material places the entertainment resort complex at the former brickworks and adjoining land at Kempston Hardwick. This is a large development area south of Bedford rather than a site in Bedford town centre.

For trip planning, it is more useful to think of the resort as a substantial new destination between the Bedford area, Wixams and the wider A421 corridor than to rely on a single street address before Universal publishes final guest-arrival information.

Is Universal UK in Bedford or Bedfordshire?

Both descriptions can be correct depending on context. The resort is in Bedford Borough, which is within the ceremonial county of Bedfordshire. Universal and government material commonly describe the project as being in Bedford or Bedfordshire.

What is at the site now?

The project occupies land associated with the former brickworks at Kempston Hardwick together with adjoining land. Government planning documents describe parts of the site as previously developed brownfield land, with other areas having been in agricultural use.

Construction and enabling activity began in 2026, so the area is now progressively becoming an active development site.

How is the resort site organised?

The planning framework divides the development into four broad zones: the Core Zone, Lake Zone, West Gateway Zone and East Gateway Zone.

These are planning and development zones — they are not the names of confirmed themed lands.

At planning level, the Core Zone is where theme/amusement/water-park uses can be located. The West Gateway includes the main A421 access and transport-hub functions, while the East Gateway includes the expanded Wixams railway-station/transport-hub area. The Lake Zone can accommodate hotels, retail, dining, conference and entertainment uses.

That structure is useful for understanding the site, but it should not be treated as a final visitor map showing individual attractions.

How will visitors reach Universal UK?

The project includes major transport proposals and upgrades. Current planning material includes a new A421 junction, improvements to Manor Road, an expanded Wixams railway station and shuttle-bus connections between Wixams and the resort.

East West Rail is separately progressing a consolidated Stewartby station proposal intended to improve access in the wider area. Wixams and Stewartby are distinct projects located to the east and west of the theme park.

Does Universal UK have an official visitor postcode yet?

A final operational visitor address or definitive guest-entrance postcode should not be assumed yet. Because the development covers a large site and detailed guest operations are still years from opening, a future official arrival address may be more specific than the broad project location used during planning and construction.

We will update this page when Universal publishes final visitor-arrival information.
