Puy du Fou UK Timeline

The Puy du Fou UK project has moved from early public consultation into a live outline planning application. The most useful way to follow it is to separate historic milestones from future developer targets and current council dates.

2024: first public consultation

Puy du Fou began its first public consultation on the proposed Oxfordshire project in July 2024. At this stage the scheme was still being introduced to local communities and the wider public.

February 2025: second consultation

A second public consultation followed in February 2025, giving more detail on the emerging masterplan, transport, landscaping, shows, villages and hotels.

29 August 2025: outline planning application submitted

Cherwell District Council received and validated application 25/02232/OUT on 29 August 2025. It is an outline application with all matters reserved, so it seeks approval for the principle and broad parameters of development rather than final detailed designs.

2025–2026: consultation and assessment

The planning register shows a substantial consultation period involving statutory bodies, local authorities, parish councils, infrastructure providers and the public. Responses have continued into 2026.

4 September 2026: where things stand now

As of this update, the live Cherwell register lists the application as Under Consultation, with decision level Committee and a target decision date of 30 November 2026.

This is important because the developer’s older public timeline still refers to a Q1 2026 local-authority decision and a 2026 start on site. Those milestones are now stale relative to the live planning record.

2026–2028: reserved matters and detailed design — proposed

The developer timeline envisages reserved-matters applications during 2026–2028. That remains a proposed programme. Reserved matters would be where significantly more detail on layout, scale, appearance, landscaping and access could emerge if outline permission is granted.

2029: proposed grand opening

Puy du Fou currently identifies 2029 as the proposed grand-opening year. Planning material indicates the resort may open in phases rather than all at once.

No exact opening day or month has been announced. The 2029 date should therefore be described as the current target, not a guaranteed opening date.
