Getting to Universal UK

Universal United Kingdom Resort is planned for Bedfordshire, south of Bedford, with opening targeted for 2031. The resort is not open yet, and Universal has not published a final visitor entrance, parking plan or complete guest transport guide.

This page brings together what is currently known about travelling to the future resort. We will turn it into a practical journey-planning guide as confirmed routes, services and arrival arrangements are announced.

Where is Universal UK?

The development site is at Kempston Hardwick in Bedford Borough, close to the A421 and the communities of Wixams, Stewartby and Kempston Hardwick. Our Universal UK location guide explains the site and surrounding area in more detail.

Getting to Universal UK by train

Rail infrastructure is expected to form an important part of the resort’s transport plan. An expanded Wixams station is included in the project, while the proposed East West Rail station at Stewartby is a separate scheme. Final train services, stopping patterns, shuttle arrangements and opening dates have not yet been confirmed.

Network Rail is developing the four-platform Wixams scheme and says main works are not expected to restart until 2027. A Morgan Sindall Infrastructure recruitment notice, accessible by 27 October 2026, identifies the firm as civils and station contractor and describes the design as moving into ES3 Option Selection. This is an early design-stage update, not a final station layout or confirmed opening date.

Getting there by car

The approved transport package includes new direct access from the A421 and wider local road improvements. However, the final guest entrance, parking arrangements, charges and drop-off locations remain unknown. Any map or route published before Universal confirms those details should be treated as provisional.

Coach, bus and local connections

Future visitors may have a mixture of shuttle, bus, coach and taxi options, but no complete operating network has been announced. We will add verified routes and accessibility information when the relevant operators and Universal publish them.

Which airport will be best?

Universal has not announced an official airport or dedicated airport-transfer service. The most practical airport will depend on future rail and road connections, journey time, luggage and where visitors stay. It is too early to recommend one airport as the definitive gateway to the resort.

Can I plan or book the journey now?

Not reliably. The resort is targeting 2031, but tickets and final transport arrangements are not yet available. Avoid making non-refundable bookings based on speculative maps, unofficial ticket sellers or assumed opening dates.

For the wider project, visit our Universal UK complete guide and opening-date tracker. We will keep this page updated as the visitor journey becomes clearer.
