Editorial Policy

Last reviewed: 4 September 2026

Theme Park Trip aims to publish accurate, useful and clearly sourced information about theme parks, destination resorts and visitor planning.

Many projects we cover are still being planned or built. Details can change quickly, and an exciting rumour can easily be repeated as fact. This policy explains how we decide what to publish and how we describe uncertainty.

Our editorial principles

We put usefulness, accuracy and clarity ahead of speed. We aim to:

  • answer the practical questions a visitor is likely to have
  • distinguish confirmed facts from proposals, reports and speculation
  • use primary and authoritative sources wherever possible
  • link to relevant evidence and related Theme Park Trip guides
  • state clearly when information is unknown or could change
  • update evergreen guides when better information becomes available
  • correct substantive errors openly and promptly

How we classify information

Confirmed means the information has been announced or established by an organisation responsible for the project, a government body, legislation, an approved planning document or another controlling authoritative source.

Proposed or documented means the information appears in a formal plan, consultation, application or supporting document but is not necessarily the final delivered outcome.

Reported means a credible publication or named source has reported the information, but the organisation responsible has not publicly confirmed it.

Speculation means an idea, prediction, interpretation or rumour that is not supported strongly enough to present as fact.

Unknown means reliable evidence is not yet available. We prefer a clear “unknown” to a confident guess.

Sources and verification

We prioritise official project websites, government announcements, legislation, planning documents, local-authority records, transport bodies and direct statements from responsible organisations.

Secondary reporting can add context, but it does not automatically turn an unconfirmed claim into a confirmed one. We may use archived material when it is important to explain how plans have changed, while marking superseded information clearly.

Material claims should be checked against the most current reliable source available when an article is written or substantially updated.

Rumours, predictions and opinion

Rumours may be covered when they are genuinely relevant to readers, but they must be labelled clearly and kept separate from confirmed information. Maps, headlines and images should not make speculation look more certain than the underlying evidence supports.

Opinion and “what we would like to see” features are welcome when they are presented as editorial content rather than reporting.

Artificial intelligence and editorial responsibility

Tools, including artificial-intelligence tools, may assist with research organisation, drafting, editing, link checking and routine publishing work. They are not treated as sources. Factual claims must still be supported by appropriate evidence, and a human remains responsible for approval before publication.

We do not knowingly publish invented quotations, sources, visits or first-hand experiences.

Commercial relationships

Advertising, affiliate links, gifted access or other commercial relationships must be disclosed clearly. They do not buy favourable coverage, remove the requirement for evidence or prevent us from publishing a correction.

Where practical, editorial decisions are made independently of commercial performance.

Updating articles

Articles about developing projects are reviewed when material new information becomes available. A changed date, approval, transport proposal or attraction announcement may require an immediate update; minor background changes may be handled during a scheduled review.

We may show a published or updated date so readers can judge how current an article is.

Corrections

Substantive errors are handled under our Corrections Policy. Minor spelling, grammar, formatting and link repairs may be made without a correction note when they do not change the meaning.

Questions about this policy can be sent through the Contact page.
